Hi, i have a couple clients looking into disaster recovery. They already have a vmware infrastructure and we where looking at Site Recovery Manager. I went through all the how to videos on vmwares website, very informative. But it kinda didnt really go into allot on the failback part.
We are very interested in using the Vsphere Replication instead of the Array based replication in terms of cost. But according to the videos there isnt an auto failback with this option. Which brings a question.
According to the video you would have to setup replication back to your main site.
So lets say we have another Hurricane sandy and we loose power for a week. We failover to our dr site. After we get power back 7 days later, we eventually want to start working in the main site again.
Now the Vms are already there as it was just a power outage, but there has been 5 to 7 days worth of data changes.
If where using Vsphere Replication can you get it to sync up with the vms already there, or do you have to delete all the vms and start from scratch?
Having to start from scratch seems like it could take a really long time to sync back.
Hopefully that made sense
Thanks
Mike
