We have this same problem...several VMs running on a Snapshot (i.e. 0000001.vmdk or 0000002.vmdk, etc.), but when we view the VM in Snapshot Manager, it does not appear to be aware of any Snapshots. We tried the approach to create a new snapshot on one of these VMs, then do a Delete All in Snapshot Manager, but it did not consolidate.
After trying consolidation, it deleted the snapshot I had just created, but not the old snapshots. Below is a screenshot of what is "stuck".
Of note is that there are no ".snapshot" files for either of these snapshots. The VM is pointing to the 000002 file for running. So, I am not sure how we got to this point, nor do I know how to get out of it. I could shut down the VM, delete the 0000001 and 0000002 files, then repoint the VM to the original VMDK file, but then my server will be stale (not have all of the changes in data since the date).
Any suggestions on how to recover other than what I have tried above?
