ESX 4.1 - New Disk - New Block size?

Hi All,

I have a single ESX 4.1 server setup with some local storage.

Recenly I discovered the local disk is set to block size 1 meaning I cant create a vm disk larger than 256GB.

Having had a read on the forums I discovered I could format the drive (loosing my VMs) and set a new block size of 4 or more

Not wanting to really do this (mostly as I'd loose some work and I dont know where ESX is actually installed, i.e. on that storage or a usb drive) I disovered my server has capasity for more physcal disks, so my plan is to add more disk, reboot the server create a raid 5 array (with the raid controller) then boot back into ESX and somehow present this new array to ESX.

So my question is, is this possible? if so how and can I change the block size to 4 or larger during the process?

Thanks

Rob
