I cannot get my VM Windows 7 to connect to the hosts network. I have tried BRIDGED, it just wont connect. The goal of my project is to setup a VM, with Steam installed and stream games to another PC on the network.
But for Steam In-Home streaming to work, they have to be on the same network.
Any advice?
I am working with a Managed Services IT Provider, and we are trying to determine the most efficient method of applying patches and updates to VMWare ESXi servers, and VCenter servers and appliances. As of now, we manually apply updates to each server, but with hundreds and possibly thousands of servers at our various customers throughout the world, doing so in a timely manner is nearly impossible.
Does VMWare have a solution for managed service providers to allow this to happen in an efficient manner? What is the best way for us to go about this, for all of our customers, without taking up a tremendous amount of time, and also allowing for this to happen on a routine basis, so our customer's VMWare servers are regularly patched?

We are trying to set defaults for the AWS instance Blueprint deployment. Is there any way to hide items such as the provision into , location and setting defaults. I understand we can create a XAAS blueprint and do a workflow that does a catalog request, but that seems like such a roundabout way to do something to help simplify the provisioning workflow and make it useable for business users.

My requirement is to associate blueprints with multiple tenants while installing the our plugin. One of the approach is to ask tenant admin credentials of each tenant and associate the blueprint. But this is not a good solution when you have lot of tenants.
Other solution is to configure vRA Host for each tenant. Then using system admin login associate blueprint with each tenant using vRA Host of each tenant. In this solution currently facing problem to access vRA host of each tenant, not able to get host ids. Please let me know if this solution is valid and how to acheive this.
If any other solution to this problem is available please let me know. I am new on vRA automation so please ask if you need more info. Thanks
I’m using VMware HTML Console SDK to send key press to the VM. From version 5.5 update 2 script doesn’t work anymore. The problem lies in the fact that from version 5.5 update 2 communication is switched to HTTPS protocol. Because we are using default VMware certificate which are self-signed script doesn’t work anymore. I found that is because Internet Explorer displaying certificate error warning page (when opening html file with wss URL).
My question, is there any way to jump this warning page and send key press to VM from Internet Explorer?

Is this correct way to ignore warning page and proceed to VM. Also I don’t know where I should put this commands (.html or .js files).

I am a little confused over where the witness appliance should be located with regard to virtual centre.
My vSAN is a 2 node direct connected cluster with a witness in a different site.
Both the witness & the vSAN hosts are connected to the same Virtual Centre.
The vSAN hosts sit in their own datacentre & then a vSAN enabled cluster within that DataCentre.
The Witness sits in its own DataCentre (no cluster configured).
I have configured each of the hosts to send the witness traffic over the management network.

On the witness server I have the error 'Host with vSAN service enabled is not in the vCenter cluster'
The witness does not need to be in a vSAN enabled cluster (mine is in its own cluster (will have more witnesses soon)) that I am aware of.
Does this need to be in a vSAN enabled cluster?

Pulling my ever thinning hair out here.
I am unable to join my 6.5 vcsa to a 2012 AD. When I use the CLI, I get the following errors:
Error: LW_ERROR_KRB5_REALM_UNKNOWN [code 0x0000a39f].
Cannot find KDC for requested realm.
I have double checked DNS settings and I have correctly forward/reverse lookup zones. I have a time server that is synching across the domain. This is a closed lab so I am unable to upload logs.
Is there a newer version of the appliance available? Am I missing something here?

When browsing the site for vpshere 6.5, I can only find the newer REST based docs for similar functionality.

But I still have a question:
Before I running code to access vm console, I had to install certificate using mmc into the client Os in which I used browser to access VM Html5 console according to this site : http://helpdesk.ssls.com/hc/en-us/articles/204333681-How-to-import-intermediate-and-root-certificates-via-MMC.
But if I have hundreds of client which want to access vm html console, I have to install certificate into each client. It's lots of work!!

I will start to certificame in vMWare with VCP. Today I passed the vsphere 6 fundation exam. Now I need to do both exams: VCP6-DCV and VCP7-DTM.
I understand that one time that I approve one VCP exam, In the second dont need a course, so my idea is does and approve the VCP6-DCV exam, after, I will do the course "Horizon 7: Install, Configure, Manage [V7]" and at the end, I will do and approve the VCP7-DTM.
In that order and with this, I can recive the two certifications witout any more to do?

I've been having issues with my Vcenter server ever since we've upgraded to 5.5 I cannot use windows authentication to access the server but recently, when logging into the server, I've been receiving an error stating "Inventory Services could not be loaded" and I show no inventory within Vcenter. After a few reboots it usually came back up. (I've needed to login as local admin to see anything, domain admin would not show inventory)
Now, however, a critical error is happening, and I can not login to Vcenter at all anymore. When attempting to login I get the following error...
Failed to connect to VMware Lookup Service - https://vCenter:7444/lookupservice/sdk
I believe this related to some type of SSL Certificate error, but I can not find any workaround to fix it. The computer name and IP address of the server has not changed and the time is accurate. I also cannot log into https://vcenter:5480 to access the admin page to reset the security certificate. (it just redirects me to the vsphere web login again)
I am a former Mac Leopard user that was running Fusion 3.1. I haven't used Fusion since 2014. I bought a new Mac back in 2016. It is running El Capitan, OS X 10.11. Does anyone know if my 3.1 VM will migrate to Fusion 10? My old 3.1 VM was running Win 7, which was an upgrade from Win XP. Is there a stair-step migration process, i.e., migrate to 7 or 8 then to 10?

after the last update of OSX.
I start my Windows 10 virtual machine on Fusion 10, at the beginning it work correctly then, after a while, I get Unidentified Network error message in the windows network adapter.
The error persist to the a simple windows restart operation.
The only way to solve the problem is to completely quit of fusion program, at the next start the network works fine for a while.
I use wifi in my Mac machine and the network configuration on fusion is the default "Shared with my Mac".
before the update I used HighSierra 10.13.1 and everything worked fine.
any suggestion?

I'm having a very strange situation with a new environment composed of the following:
-Dell FX2 Enclosure with 4 FC630 Nodes & PCI-e 10GBaseT (The Enclosure also has 2 FN410T Switches but they are not being used)
-EqualLogic PS6210 with 10GBase-T as well
- Switch 10GBaseT Alcatel 6900
I have updated the HW to the latest level and installed ESXi 6.0 (Build 6765062) on the 4 Nodes, I have configured the iSCSI Software Adapter with one Port Group that only uses 1 NIC, also the MTU of the Storage and Switch is set to 9000, also the vSwitch is configured this way, as I'm making tests everything is on the same Network, the EqualLogic is configured as well with the iSCSI initiator and is allowing full access to the volumes.
The problem I'm having is that when I make a re-scan on the iSCSI adapter the paths/devices are not being refreshed immediately, the task itself is completed within seconds and no errors are sent but I don't see any of the presented LUN's/Volumes from the EQ, sometimes I need to make several re-scans on the adapter so I can see the some paths but most of the time the re-scan doesn't show anything. I have noticed that if I restart the Node the paths are completely updated however this shouldn't be the behavior.
I have an old infrastructure with a couple of PS6100 and R910 Servers configured the same way and after adding a new Volume a re-scan on the iSCSI adapter detects the new path/device immediately, so I was wondering if someone has had a similar issue, what baffles me is that I don't see any errors on the ESXi or the Storage, as I said before the re-scan tasks are completed successfully and within seconds but no new paths are being shown.
Hope someone can shed some ideas on this problem

I was trying to set up a Windows 7 Ultimate Guest using Bitlocker on the boot drive (as a test). But, I can't seem to get Bitlocker to enable in the Guest for the boot drive for some reason.
I installed a new Guest with Windows 7 Ultimate w/SP1 using EFI instead of BIOS. I encrypted the Windows 7 Guest from workstation (as apparently required by Workstation).
I added a TPM 2.0 to the hardware list, and then installed the Windows 7 hotfix for TPM 2.0 in the Guest. I then updated the TPM 2.0 driver by selecting the driver manually from the list of security devices. It now shows up under device manager without an apparent problem.
When I try to enable Bitlocker on the C: drive, I get an error saying
"The boot manager of this operating system is not compatible with bitlocker drive encryption. Use the bootrec.exe tool in the Windows recovery environment to update or repair the boot manager..."
Creating a system recovery disk and running 'bootrec /rebuildbcd' doesn't seem to help.
Did I miss a step? Has anyone got this working for a Windows 7 guest?
I can apparently add a 'D:' drive, and get bitlocker to enable on it, just not the boot c: drive.

I am standing up some new 2016 RDS systems and am running in to this error. Not seeing that Server 2016 isn't supported or any documentation on how to fix this. Any suggestions?

I can not connect to vcenter via neither web nor vsphere client. Connection test in ODBC Data Sources --> System DSN fails with error the target machine actively refused it [127.0.0.1:5432]. Tried from cmd using the command c:\Program Files\VMware\vCenter Server\vPostgres\bin>psql -U username database_name and I got an error psql: could not connect to server: Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061). vpxd log shows a connection error.
Furthermore vmware Inventory service can not start on local computer. Also Vsphere web client and VMware VirtualCenter services can not start on local computer giving error 1068: The dependence service or group failed to start. Inventory service is one of dependence of the virtualcenter. However VMWare Postgres starts and running with no error.
Please help.

When I check the summary tab in the webgui of my VCSA 6.5 then under overall health it says unknown. Under Health Messages "unable to get information on available updates" is reported:
When I switch to the Update Section in the Navigator and check the repository for updates, it says that all updates are already installed:
Also by checking the health via API it says "health; gray". The update settings are all left to their default settings.

Recently updated (clean install) to exsi 5.1 u3 rollup. Imported several Linux VM' without issue. Installed Windows SBS 2008 from CD, same disk as used in previous esxi 5.0 install, where it worked perfectly.
This install, seem to have oddness, in that for virtually any thing I open up, the new window hangs and cannot be closed. Some are not seen in TaskMgr. I can log out and back in. I did some looking from a windows perspective, but it seems this may be a host issue. I have reinstalled the guest several times, increasing disk space and RAM.
Cannot even run event view from GUI or command line. Hangs. Known issue with esxi 5.x ?
