How to clean up after cancelled Fusion 4.1.4 install?

I downloaded the VMware-Fusion-4.1.4-900582-light disk image and ran the installer with the intention of installing it on my new Mini running 10.8.2, and activating Fusion with my unused Fusion 2 license code.

The installer required me to authenticate to make (as I remember the wording) a "one-time change" to the Mini. I authenticated and proceeded to enter my Fusion 2 license code. Oops, it's only 20 characters and the Fusion 4 installer wants 25 characters.

I cancelled the install and figured, OK, I'll install version 2 onto the Mini, and upgrade from within the app. Oops. The version 2 installer complained that it can be run only on Intel Macs, which the new Mini certainly is. This weird, out-of-place message made me wonder if its origin is because the version 2 installer cannot run on 10.8.2, or if it detected the "one-time change" that the version 4 installer made, and got confused.

Eventually, I discovered that there is no upgrade path from Fusion 2 to 4.

So, here's my question: what was the "one-time change" that the 4.1.4 installer made, and how can I undo it and any other changes that the installer might have made, even though I cancelled the install?

Thanks.
