Hi,

Got an issue with running vmware-tools on a Red Hat Linux Advanced Server release 2.1AS -- 2.4.9-e.57smp.

vmware-tools version is 8.3.12.9814 (build-559003)

Previous vmware-tools version 8.3.7 was running fine.

vmtools.log has the following

[Nov 30 10:53:16.926: ] [   debug] [vmtoolsd] Plugin 'autoUpgrade' initialized.
[Nov 30 10:53:16.927: ] [   debug] [vmtoolsd] Plugin 'deployPkg' initialized.
[Nov 30 10:53:16.928: ] [ message] [guestinfo] New poll interval is 30s.
[Nov 30 10:53:16.928: ] [   debug] [vmtoolsd] Plugin 'guestInfo' initialized.
[Nov 30 10:53:16.929: ] [   debug] [vmtoolsd] Plugin 'hgfsServer' initialized.
[Nov 30 10:53:16.929: ] [   debug] [vmtoolsd] Plugin 'powerops' initialized.
[Nov 30 10:53:16.930: ] [   debug] [vmtoolsd] Plugin 'timeSync' initialized.
[Nov 30 10:53:16.931: ] [   debug] [vmtoolsd] Plugin 'vix' initialized.
[Nov 30 10:53:16.932: ] [   debug] [vmbackup] Error initializing the sync driver.
[Nov 30 10:53:16.932: ] [ message] [vmtoolsd] Plugin 'libvmbackup.so' didn't provide deployment data, unloading.

Running "/usr/bin/vmtoolsd" from the command line fails with a Segmentation fault. If you would like to have a look at the stacktrace let me know- I couldnt find much in there.

Though running "/usr/bin/vmtoolsd  " with the trailing spaces works fine.

Any ideas on this one please?

Cheers

Anuj
