Hi,
I am about to upgrade from ESXi4.1 to ESXi5.1 and have been advised to format and reinstall my servers to avoid issues.
I was reading a best practices doc (from Dell) and the way they are showing the iSCSI ports is different to the way they recomended when i initialy installed 4.1. So, i was wondering if someone could just confirm which way i should go.
The old method was one vSwitch with 4 kernal ports (each in a seperate subnet) sharing 4 Nics
The new method is 4 seperate vSwitches with a kernal port in each (same subnet config) and a Nic per switch
Also, i have 3 servers and i was planning to upgrade one at a time (moving the VMs to the other two servers during the process), if i change the configuration of my iSCSI ports to the new method do you anticipate any issues with the old and new servers working together till i finish all 3 upgrades?
Thanks for any advice
Ian
