Hi everyone,
I've been at this for a week now with no progress.
Environment: ESXi 5.1.0 running on HP DL380 G5.
I'm trying to convert a Physical Server 2008 R2 into a VM.
The server has 2 partitions:
1- System boot partition with 5.7GB (on a 420GB partition! don't ask me why but the person before me thought it was a good idea!)
2- Windows partition with 60GB parition
I have installed the converter agent directly on the source server and was able to P2V the server successfully into ESXi.
The problem is that I don't want to lose 420GB of storage used by the system partition.
So next I tried another P2V with a reduced system partition (changed the destination partition to the 5.7 needed) but this has resulted in blue screens at startup (STOP: 0x0000007B if that's any indication).
I had a similar issue before and I ended up doing a V2V from the machine with the larger partition and reduced the partition on the destination. This did not work with this VM and I was still getting the blue screens at startup.
I have then deleted the entire boot partition, recreated it and set it to active, and then rebuilt it using the bootrec commands as per this blog post:http://mendel129.wordpress.com/2012/01/14/deleting-bootloader-on-windows-server-2008-r2/ and needless to say I was still getting the blue screens.
I need your help to figure how can I convert this physical server while reducing the bloated system partition and not have to deal with blue screens!
Thanks!
