Help please! The file specified is not a virtual disk

Hi, first let me say that I did search the forum for this issue and didn't really find an entry that sounded like it would work.  I am using Workstation 9 for a Windows 7 32-bit VM and I deleted something important! When I tried to open any of my 150+ snapshots I got the error "The file specified is not a virtual disk." Since what I deleted was large (it didn't go to the recycle bin) it was "permanently deleted." I used a data recovery program to get the files back, but I don't know which I actually need or actually what the problem is since I'm a novice at best. I copied a bunch of recovered files back into the directory and now when I try to open the VM, nothing happens.

I saw this post (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1015634), but didn't really know how to make it work for my setup, if in fact this is actually the problem.

If anybody could help, I would appreciate it! I use VMWare in my job and losing these snapshots would be tons of work gone. Please be specific in how to get any file info from the VM that you might need.

Thanks!

tim
