Hello out there,
we are currently evaluating the use of persona management and are looking into a use case for using folder redirection in combination with persona mgmt.
Please consider remote repository and vm's are in the same LAN.
As far as I know following happens at logon:
- User profile is loaded
During user session:
replication happens as configured in GPO upload interval
At log off:
- final replication since the last replication interval
Furthermore after the user logs in files (e.g. .doc in my documents) are loaded on demand to local view-desktop from remote-repository. The same would happen if folder redirection was active, because the .doc has to be transferred from a network share via LAN to the local view-desktop and vice versa. The same amount of network traffic would be the result. For me its a little bit confusing what are the pro's and con's for folder redirection when persona is used. In case of just using windows roaming profiles it is clear for me because replication takes place only at logon/logoff which would increase logon/logoff time because replication (e.g. my documents).
I would appreciate it if someone can explain the difference between persona+folder redirection and without regarding network traffic.
Regards,
Matthias
