Shared VM Hangs on boot

i tried converting a normal VM to a Shared VM. worked perfectly as a normal VM but as a shared VM it loads to about 95%, and then hangs on the workstation UI. oddly enough though, the machine does boot, and is working fine. (i can remote desktop into it and everything)

any ideas?

Workstation 9 on an i7 16GB of memory
