Cannot create workpool. Can I join the club?

I have read the prior postings, read the blog links, scoured the forums, and cannot find a solution.  I too am experiencing HTTP 404/500 errors while attempting to create a workpool.  The twist?  For me, it is occuring on a local install on VM Workstation.  Many of the prior posts discuss resolution methods for resolving using vSphere, however there is little information available for workstation.

 

I am using Thinapp Factory, VMWare Workstation 9.0.1 and TAF 0.3.2.  I deployed using the EXE.  I did NOT use domain\username format, I used just username. I re-deployed several times trying different variations.  I enabled VM sharing via the default ports.

 

The popup errors with: "Cannot continue.  The application is improperly formatted. Contact the applicaiton vendor for assistance."  The associated error log reads:
