Adding datastore to VMware with dell perc5.i after enabling vt-d

Dear VMware community,

I have a problem with my Sphere v5 adding datastore to VMware, the problem comes when I put vt-d on enable. I have my datastore on raid 5 with a dell perc5.i. When I enable this function my datastore is gone from the raid controller. Another point when I make a new raid with disks en try to add it, I notice that when it is initializing I can add the datastore with no problems. But after it is done initializing it’s gone again.

Now maybe you are thinking why put vt-d on J my setup is that I want to make my nas/san virtual inside vmware with freebsd and I need pass through for my tape drive connecting to my backup server.

Does anyone know what could be the problem Or is it just impossible if you put vt-d on enable you can’t use the raid-controller in the PCI-E slot anymore for datastores but just for pass through?

Other info I already have my VMware Sphere on USB

Thank you very much in advance!!!

With kind Regards,

Emiel
