Hallo,

Few days ago (22/1/2012) i upgraded my esxi cluster from 2 node HP  DL380G7 with ESXI 4.1 to 3 nodes HP DL 380 G7 with ESXI 5.1

All nodes are  attached via iscsi to an EMC VNXe 3100 storage.

Steps was:

1. install esxi 5.1 on  new server

2. install new vcenter server (appliance) 5.1

3. create cluster on  new vcenter

4. release 2 old host from old v. 4.1 vcenter

5. put 2 old host on  new vcenter appliance 5.1

6. move vm from old n.1 host to old n.2 host

7.  upgrade old n.1 host to esxi 5.1

8. move vm from old n.2 host to new n.3 host

9.  upgrade old n.2 host to esxi 5.1

10. redistribute all vm across all hosts.

since 2 years, i have a vm with a 500 gb RDM Disk. The day after upgrade some users explain connection  lost on vm (vm is a file server).

the problem was growing and yesterday i  rebooted the vm. Vm will not start and the the lun previously detected as rdm disk is now acknowledge as a VMFS  Datastore from all ESXi servers (empty, 500 gb free formatted vmfs). I tryed to disconnect the rdm lun to esxi hosts and  linked directly to vm.

Vm see the lun but ask me to format it.

Is possible to  ressurect the rdm lun?

Thanks in advance

Andrea
