Hi All,
I might be just confused by vSphere component licensing, but is there a way to create a Version 9 VM without forking out cash for a vCenter Server license? Here's my understanding of the problem:
- To create a Version 9 VM and benefit from the new features, the Web Client is required as the standalone Client supports up to Version 8 only.
- The Web Client is part of vCenter Server, which requires a paid license.
If this is so, one can use a standalone ESXi 5.1 for free (providing they have access to a Windows box to run the C# Client on) but is restricted from access to Version 9 features such as per-vm nested virtualization control.
