VM Workstation 8.0.5 cannot add bridged network: There are no un-bridged host network adapters

I have an Ubuntu 12.0.4 host 64 bit with 4 1 Gbps ethernet cards, all functioning and routing properly from the host to other hosts.

However VMWare workstation's 8.0.5 network editor recognizes only eth0 and eth1, not the other two (eth2 & eth3), and when I attempt to add the 3rd network I get this error:There are no un-bridged host network adapters

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the workstation and that didn't seem to solve the problem; still only 2 ethernet cards visible. By the way, other posts recommended to choose restore defaults in the network editor, however,  that option isn't available on the Ubuntu host for some reason.

I appreciate any help on this.
