We did a recent patch upgrade on 5.1 to 914609 using vum, and now the 2003 terminal server keeps geting the error: vmware tools core services encountered a problem and needed to close.
This morning, a user called me advising no one could log into the terminal server. This is the second time this happened in two weeks. I vpn to the site, I could ping the vm, but could not log in using mstsc, so I opened vcenter console, and saw that the vm's ip address was not visible in the Summary Tab. A reboot of the vm was required to bring the vm back on line.
The vm was built natively using vcenter. It has worked fine for almost 2 years, but recently after the latest patch update to 914609, this vm has started having this issue. Last week I removed and re-installed tools.
I also want to add that the backups recently failed as of this last update, they use Veeam 6.5 ENT, with the latest patch. So I'm not sure if this could have been caused by Veeam snap shots.
