According to this advisory VMSA-2010-0007.1 it reads: "End of General Support for VMware Server 2.0 is 2011-06-30, users should plan to upgrade to the newest release of either ESXi or VMware Player".
I don't want to buy an extra server to run ESXi for just one single VM currently running beside other things on an existing Opensuse 11.1 Linux server. On Opensuse 11.2 and similar distributions Server 2.0.2 cannot be compiled without some strange workarounds, surely will get worse with newer versions.
And if I'm not wrong VMware Player cannot run in the background without a display output. So both ESXi and Player are not suitable for my needs.
Can someone suggest a solution to continue running one or two VMs on existing Linux servers with current kernel versions? Preferrably with an easy conversion of existing Server 2.0.2 VMs.
