Hi,
I am seeing an issue where vmware tools do not run after a vApp is customized during vApp creation.
I have a vApp that has vmware tools installed. It is a couple of CentOS machines. They vmware tools start and run on the vApp. I then add the vApp to a catalog as a vAppTemplate. That template has some initialization code that on precustomization adds some startup instructions to /etc/rc.d/rc.local. While the vApp is starting up, if I look at vCenter client I can see the VM powering on and I see the customization scripts being executed as a status in the VMWare Tools: section. Then after that the status "Running" for a moment then finally goes to 'Not Running'. If I reboot the machine the tools start running again on restart and the IP is reported (this is a DHCP network interface).
Is this a known issue or intended behavior? Ideally, I need a way for the VMWare tools to be restarted.
Please advise,
Rich
