exporting a VM

Does ESXi 5.0 have a way to export a VM through PowerCLI?

I see there's Export-VApp, and read a suggestion to move my VM into a new VApp to export. Is there a better way?

If VApp is the only way, how do I specify my ESXi host as the -Location parameter for New-VApp?  In vSphere Client my ESX host is listed in the inventory by its IP address; is there some other "name" which can be used as the -Location param - using the IP address as a parameter gets "The operation is not supported on the object"  (Or am I as usual barking up the wrong tree?)
