Using hgfs with autofs

I am running a Fedora 10 VM on a Fedora 10 host machine. I need autofs enabled in the VM because software is upgraded in the VM via CDROM and USB drives.

I now need the VM to have access to a directory on the host machine, "/onhost"; I am calling the share in the VM "onvm". When I enable shared folders in the VM's settings, it seemed to accept it ok, but I am unable to access /mnt/hgfs. Stopping autofs and subsequently restarting the vmware-tools service allows /mnt/hgfs/onvm to be created and mounted, and I am able to view files in the host's /onhost. Starting autofs again removes access to it.

The easiest solution I can think of is to mount my hgfs share somewhere other than /mnt/hgfs (like /media/hgfs). I have been doing some digging, but have not been able to find where to change this. Otherwise, I need some other solution that allows them to play together nicely.
