Dear Experts,
I need to understand this case, I seek your response for the same,
I have a virtual machine which have 20GB as defined HDD, thin provisioned. Now when I look in windows 2003 OS it shows me consumed space as 15 GB and free is 5GB. Thats OK, the c:\ drive have some data.
But when I look in vSphere client it shows me provisioned storage as 22GB which is (17GB .vmdk file + 2GB of vswp memory file)
The Used storage is 19.03 GB, on datastore 100GB still free. Now my questions should I worry for this 'used storage 19.03GB' status?Is it showing me that my defined HDD of 20GB thin is about to finish ? OR I care for what is available to me in Windows OS ?
Please guide me if I really need to increase the defined HDD size for this VM because this used storage 19.03 is making me to think. I need to understand this case because it will also help me to monitor other VM's, how and what to consider with virtual machines Hard Disks and when to take appropriate actions
