Configuration: New install of VMware Fusion 5.0.2, on OS X 10.8.2.
To verify the installation, I selected 'Add' > 'New...', and created a simple Ubuntu VM (Ubuntu.vmwarevm). Any attempt to 'Start Up' the new VM results in a popup error "VMware Fusion cannot connect to the virtual machine". I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and rebooted, ran Disk Utility checks, but the problem persists.
I am a brand-noobie, so I am sure that I am overlooking something very simple. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
