Clones Fail with Incompatible device backing (5.1)

Hi all

Got an interesting issue on View 5.1 that im am stumped with

We had a VC reboot that caused the vc health on the dashboard to go red.  Everything was fine but the Vcenter on the View Dashboard indicated still showed red.  Only way I have found so far to clear the eror is to reboot all 5 of our Conenction brokers which I did.

That cleard up the VC error but now has caused a much larger error thats quite concerning.

Several of the pools that are being refreshed are coming up with Incompatable device backing errors on both the Linked Clone VM's and the Replica. (see error below)

Interestingly when you look in Vcenter at an affected linked Clone its sitting at the PXE boot failing to find an Operating System even though nothing has changed on the gold image or the replica (cant edit replicas anyway).

A fix to this is to take a new snapshot of the gold image (without any changes to the previous snapshot) and reprovision the affected pools to the new snapshot.  This however is not an ideal fix as the number of pools will grow and to do this on all pools after downtime could be prohibative.

Anyone have this issue crop up?   Any solutions or ideas what may be causing this?
