Trblshooting VMkernel connectivity

I have 2 ESXi 5 hosts on Cisco UCS that each have two 10 GB Nics.  I am using one NIC for mgmt/VMs and another NIC soley for vMotion.   I have setup a seperate vswitchs for the vMotion interfaces, added the secondary NICs to those vSwitches, and added them to their own vlan. (600)  I have added IPs to the VMkernal port in the range of 192.168.60.0/24. (this network is only used for vmotion)

Here is where I am having the problem, when I try to ping each host by IP address using vmkping, I don't get a response.  The hosts can ping themselves and get a response.  I think the problem is with the default gateway for my vmotion vmkernal port.  It won't allow me to not add a default gateway for the vmkernal port, it defaults to the default gateway of my management interface, which is 192.168.70.1.  I don't have a gateway for the 192.168.60.0/24 network but I didn't think I needed one since I am looking to vmotion to a server on the same UCS chassis.

Any thoughts on what to check?  I have the Vmotion NICs designated on my UCS with VLAN 600.

Thanks in advance.
