vmware unity on host with enlightenment WM

Dear all,

my host is running Bodhi2.1 64bit with the enlightenment (E17) window manager. I have VM WS8 with a Win XP and a Win7 guest.

When I try to run either VM in unity mode, I get this error message:

Unity works just fine under gnome3 running either gnome-shell or Ubuntu's unity.

Is that a fundamental limitation, that unity does not work under E17 or is there special setting I need to apply?
