I thought we were supposed to be able to managed down-level hosts with newer version of vSphere, but this is not the behavior I'm seeing.
We have a 4.0 vCenter server with 4.0 hosts and one 5.0 standalone host.
I had vSphere Client 4.0 installed on my machine and connected to the 5.0 host. I was prompted to install vSphere 5.0. When I tried to connect to one of our 4.0 hosts, I was prompted to install vSphere 4.0 and couldn't log in until I did. Now I need to install vSphere Client 5.0 before I can connect to the newer host again.
What am I missing?
