Can't disable Time Sync in VMWare Workstation 8.0.1

I read KB# 1189 as well as the various articles about disabling time syncing between the Host and Guest, but I can't get it to stop syncing.

I Shut Down the Guest and edited the VMX file as follows:

tools.syncTime = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.continue = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.restore = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.resume.disk = "FALSE"
time.synchronize.shrink = "FALSE"
tools.synchronize.tools.startup = "FALSE"

But no matter what, the Guest date/time still syncs back to that of the Host after Power On or Resume.

I tried this on Guests Windows 2008 x86 and Windows 2008 R2 with the same results.  I also disabled the Windows feature to "Synchronize with an Internet Time Server".

I am using VMWare Workstation 8.0.1 on Windows 7 Pro x64.

Any clues as to what I am missing?
