I know this is fairly cutting edge since I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 pre-alpha as host. Since I upgrade by changing quantal to raring in all the sources.list repos and up grade 12.10 from there it did not install a new kernel. It still was 3.5. Naturally I wished to install 3.8 (3.7 won't boot - known issue). Uninstalled both Virtualbox and VMware WS. Reinsatalled Virtualbox - found the heaades immediately and compiled and ran just fine. . VMware - not a clue. Headers have changed location in kernels 3.7 and 3.8 and are in "/usr/src/linux-headers-3.8.0-030800rc1/include/linux". If I can find them and Virtualbox can find them why can't VMware? Virtualbox is open source guys - you'd think the search code could be included in the program . Same things happen in some openSUS 12.x releasses. Of course these hosts are not "offically" supported but still .. they may not be for a very long time. .
